Livi finished her championship very quickly, going BV for two 5 point majors at the Ft Dearborn specialty weekend to finish at 13 months of age, she finished her ROM just 4 months later at the Buckeye Bull Terrier club supported shows in Canfield Ohio. She was also selected as Best Moving Bull Terrier at the first Canadian Shield Trophy show in July, 2013. Unfortunately she suffered an ear hematoma in late 2013 which recurred and eventually ended her conformation show career. Livi is a bright and unusually biddable Bull Terrier, so we turned to performance events, first following in her mother’s Barn Hunt footsteps, and then in both competition and rally obedience. She took her career in a different direction in 2017, whelping a litter of puppies on June 23rd. Since then, we’ve returned to performance and with her Rally Advanced title awarded in January 2020, she qualified for both the Versatility and Versatility Advanced titles from the Bull Terrier Club of America.
What ARE all those titles, anyway?
- GCH – AKC Grand Champion conformation title, 25 points, 3 majors (wins of 3+ points), 3 wins with champions defeated.
- Ch – AKC Champion, 15 points, 2 majors required
- ROM – Bull Terrier Club of America Recognition of Merit, requires multiple wins under breeder/expert judges at designated supported shows
- BN – Beginner Novice AKC optional obedience title, all heeling on leash. Title requires 3 qualifying runs.
- RA – Rally Intermediate title, 3rd level Rally series, all exercises off lead. Title requires 3 qualifying runs.
- CGCA – AKC Community Canine Award, 2nd level of basic manners training, confirmed by a Canine Good Citizen evaluator
- TKI – AKC Trick Dog Intermediate, 2nd level of Tricks performance, requires 10 intermediate level tricks verified by an AKC CGC evaluator
- NTD – Do More With Your Dog Novice Trick Dog title, requires 15 tricks verified by DMWYD evaluator
- NSD – DMWYD title requiring an off leash performance following a standard pattern inside a fenced exhibition area
- RATO – Barn Hunt Association Rat Open Title, requiring the dog to find two hidden rats, take a tunnel including a turn and climb on straw bales within 2 minutes. Title requires 3 qualifying runs.
